The company is organised as two Divisions: the Software Services Division and the Product Division. The Software Services Division executes software projects for clients. The Product Division is responsible for the development, sale, deployment and support of Merce. The two Divisions draw on a common HR management and technical training infrastructure, and the core technical strengths which the company has built over the last decade are available to both Divisions.

The Software Services Division executes software development projects for clients. The work done by this Division was the core activity of the company even at its inception. This activity has matured over the years, and many of the projects we have executed here have been show-case achievements of our skill and technical risk appetite. In many cases, we have executed projects which had never been done in India before us.

• Services offered: Application software development (full life cycle), deployment and commissioning of the application, installation and configuration of complete software stack from operating system to application layers, post-commissioning maintenance support for the production systems.

• Platforms: Unix (all flavours), Linux, *BSD.

• Programming languages: Depth in Perl, Java, C, shellscripting, PHP.

• Front-end technologies: In-depth expertise in browser-based UI, including advanced Javascript, AJAX, and CSS. Expertise in developing browser-independent UI.

• Application platforms: Tomcat, JBoss, IBM Websphere, Oracle Application Server.

• Database engines: In-depth expertise in MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, IBM UDB.

We execute most of our projects as fixed-price projects, thus taking the risk of schedule overruns and effort estimation inaccuracy on our account. We have mature processes and a low-overheads company culture which allow us to retain profitability in spite of this. The majority of the Indian software industry works on T&M billing contracts.

The Product Division is focused on the development, sale, deployment and support for the Merce suite of products. This Division also manages our Merce Partner network which takes the Merce product range to the market and provides first-level services to the customer.

The activities in this Division include:

• Product design: includes architecture, design, and feature analysis and discovery.

• Development: includes UI design, low-level coding, testing, integration into the primary source repository, and the entire process of release engineering.

• Sales and marketing: handled by a dedicated Sales Group which handles product sales and product-related system-integration projects.

• Partner relations: Merce has a Partner network in India and abroad, who take our products to their customers, provide support and services, and integrate our products with larger projects. This network is managed and grown by our Partner Relations group.

• Professional Services: The Merce Professional Services Group (Merce PSG) provides services to potential customers from conceptualising of a Merce-enabled enterprise network installation up to special services during and after commissioning. Merce PSG executes turnkey projects for Merce-enabling an enterprise.

• Support: Our Support Group provides technical support after a Merce installation is commissioned.

• Training: Merce PSG offers training modules for customers, prospects, and Partners.
