This company was born in 1996 as an engineering services company, working in the areas of Internet technology, enterprise networking, email messaging, security, and Web-based business applications development. The core team which created the company remains active till date.

Based on our expertise in the broad area of enterprise networking, we were awarded projects to design and implement email messaging services and robust industrial-grade WANs for many companies. Some of these were implemented in the mid-nineties, before private telcos had stepped in to provide state-of-the-art data links across the country as are available today.

Our expertise in enterprise networking and messaging was ploughed back to create a reusable framework, which was later developed further into the Merce product suite. Most of the original software modules written in 1998 and 1999 have been rewritten since, and a process of constant improvement helps to keep Merce at the cutting edge of our customers' requirements. Our vision is to build Merce into a foundation for the complete IS infrastructure for organisations of all sizes, retaining our core focus on LAC (Logging, Audit and Control).

Today, Merce is a company with two independent Divisions: the Software Services Division and the Product Division. The Software Services Division handles software projects in various areas for corporate clients. The Product Division is responsible for the development, sale, and support of the Merce suite of products. The technologies used in the two Divisions have high overlap, and thus we are able to draw on the core technical strength of our engineering team for all areas of work.
